ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGIST — FULL TIME
LEA is looking for someone to join the firm who is passionate about developing innovative design solutions in the highest level of personalized, multi-disciplinary architectural services. The position would have a focus on the creation of construction documents for a wide variety of projects, working closely with consultant teams to provide comprehensive design solutions. Being a small, dedicated firm in Northern Ontario, the work involves direct collaboration with the Principal Architects and Intern Architects on the creation of new and innovative building solutions through detailing and material research. To provide a comprehensive design solution, there would be a requirement for the ability to bring sketches and concept drawings to reality.

Collaboration on AutoCAD and SketchUp files at various phases of the projects, including design development and construction documents.
Preparation of deliverables at all project phases.
Generation of working drawings from design sketches and concept drawings.
Researching and interpretation of construction methodology, building assemblies, materials application, and manufacturer’s requirements.
Assisting with the coordination of consultants including civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical.
Correspondence with contractors, and consultants via email, telephone, or in person.
Independent and collaborative work on multiple projects at a time.

Graduate of an Architectural Technology, Architecture, or related program at a recognized post-secondary school.
Junior: One (1) year minimum experience working in an architectural firm, engineering firm, or related field. Candidates with no experience will be considered if they show exceptional aptitude for other requirements listed below.
Intermediate: Five (5) year minimum experience working in an architectural firm, engineering firm, or related field.
Senior: Ten (10) year minimum experience working in an architectural firm, engineering firm, or related field.
High level of knowledge in AutoCAD
Proficient in other programs such as SketchUp and Microsoft Office.
Strong knowledge of construction methodology, building assemblies, materials application, and interpretation of manufacturers' requirements.
Ability to interpret and coordinate work of consultants including civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical.
Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, National Building Code, and NMS specifications format.
Excellent organizational, oral, and written skills.
Membership in the OAA, OAAAS, AATO, OACETT, LEED accreditation, Ontario Driver’s License and bilingualism (English-French) would be considered assets.
INTERN ARCHITECT — FULL TIME
LEA is looking for someone to join the firm who is passionate about developing innovative design solutions in the highest level of personalized, multi-disciplinary architectural services. While at LEA, you will have the opportunity to work directly with the Principal and Intern Architects on a variety of projects at all stages of design, from project inception to completion. Being a small, dedicated firm in Northern Ontario, the position will allow for direct input on all facets of the project, allowing you to rapidly develop your real-world design skills. Jean Larocque, a Principal Architect at the firm, is LEED certified, and is passionate about promoting these strategies in all projects, as well as passing on his knowledge to the other employees to develop projects that consistently push the boundaries of environmental design. The current Intern Architects are eager to collaborate with any new team members, with the belief that emerging talent and new perspectives constantly improve the firm and the projects that are completed. Additionally, the position provides the opportunity to be involved with the continued development of the firm’s graphic standards and visual communication strategies to be utilized in drawing sets, client presentations, and social media and website content.

Graduate with a Master of Architecture from a recognized post-secondary school.
No minimum experience working in an architectural firm required, however experience preparing drawing sets, authoring construction documents, and coordination of consultants in an architectural firm will be considered an asset.
High level of knowledge in AutoCAD and SketchUp
Proficiency in other programs such as Revit, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Microsoft Office.
Strong knowledge of construction methodology, building assemblies, materials application and interpretation of manufacturers' requirements.
Ability to interpret and coordinate work of consultants including civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical.
Understanding of the Ontario Building Code, National Building Code, and NMS specifications format.
Excellent organizational, oral, and written skills.
Willingness to learn and develop individual knowledge in all aspects of the architectural process.
Membership or ability to become a member in the OAA, LEED accreditation, Ontario Driver’s License and bilingualism (English-French) would be considered assets.
